It is no new news that Greek yogurt is good for us. It is packed full of protein and nutrients, like calcium, that our bodies need to keep functioning healthily. And while it is a great source of protein, probiotics, and vitamins, not all of us want to eat a bowl full of plain Greek yogurt every day. To help combat this monotony we have come up with a few easy snacks that will hopefully help get you thinking about some fun ways to incorporate Greek yogurt into your diet!
1. Greek Yogurt Parfait
These are great little snacks for warm summer days or even as a breakfast alternative for a bowl of cereal.
For these, you’ll need: Plain Greek yogurt, these individual Greek yogurt cups make it easy because it already has 1 serving size portioned out.
Fruit, fresh or frozen berries work well, but if you don’t have access to either of those a dried fruit mix will also work and it keeps well in the pantry as well.
Granola, like this maple nut granola, and finally a natural sweetener, such as maple syrup or honey.
Then all you do is add the fruit and the granola to the yogurt and drizzle in some syrup and you’ve got a refreshing snack.
2. Greek Yogurt Dip
Making a yogurt dip at home is so easy and it provides an easy snack paired with sliced vegetables or whole-grain or seedy crackers throughout the entire week.
To make this dip: First, grate 1 cucumber into a bowl, don’t worry about peeling the skin off or de-seeding it.
Add about 1 ½ cups of Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh dill, 1 minced garlic clove, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, ½ teaspoon of sea salt, and a pinch of pepper to the bowl.
Mix all of the ingredients together and store in an airtight container in the fridge for the week. This dip will keep for about 4-5 days so try making a batch Sunday evening for the upcoming week!
3. Frozen Greek Yogurt Bites
These frozen yogurt bites are a perfect little treat for summer days or when you just feel like you want a little bite of something sweet. To make these guilt-free desserts simply:
Mix together about 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons of a natural sweetener like maple syrup or honey, and about ¾ cup cut up or crushed fresh, frozen, or freeze-dried fruit.
Prepare a sheet pan by placing parchment paper on it and spread a layer of granola on the parchment paper. This chocolate and nut granola works very well because it adds little bits of chocolate to this sweet treat.
Spread the yogurt mixture on top of the granola and top with ¼ cup of fruit and freeze.
Once it is completely frozen, break it into pieces and store the pieces in an airtight container in the freezer for a sweet snack whenever you want one!
